“Paying The Price”
By Joni Ames

Dear Friends,

The enemy has been trying to discourage many from the very basics of their faith in this season in order to destroy the pursuit of our purpose, call, and destiny. In that, I‘ve sensed a real call to “Get back to the basics.” So I felt led of the Lord to walk us through some of what that means, from The Word, through my own pursuit of the Lord.

You may wonder what this has to do with prophecy, but it has everything to do with it. Without a basic foundational Biblical life, we end up shipwrecked as prophetic people. If you have need of this word/teaching, then let this be a Joel 2:25 time for you to be restored to the life and relationship the Lord has for you in Him.

From the beginning of time, Mankind has longed to know the reason they exist. Many attempt to choose a “short cut” toward that goal. However, there is a price to be paid for that type of information. I’m not speaking of money, but of the price of relationship – intimate relationship – with the Living God. And of not giving up and ignoring God just because the road becomes rough.

Jesus promises that His Sheep (that’s US!) know His Voice! (John 10:4) It’s all about spending time and communicating with Him. When we are better acquainted with our Lord, we will better know and understand who He is, what He is all about, AND what His heart and will for OUR individual life is.

THE WORD

“Faith comes by hearing; and hearing by The Word of God.” (Romans 10:17)

If you want to increase your faith, become a true student of the Word on a regular basis.

As a young Christian, I began to hear a lot about tithing. In my mind and heart, I felt that God’s promise in Malachai 3 regarding tithing our money may well also be applied to our time. After all, we “spend” both, right? So I began to “tithe” my time by “spending” 10% of my time with Him. Not “doing works,” but truly in getting to know Him through spending time in His Word, and in prayer – meaning not just “asking for stuff,“ but both talking and listening to Him.

Just to be specific, a tithe is 10%. There are 24 hours in the day. SO…10% of 24 is 2.4 hours, or more plainly, 2 hours and 24 minutes. So I decided to “spend” or devote at least 2 hours and 24 minutes a day with the Lord.

In the beginning, I didn’t know much else to do except read the Word and pray. And I admit, at first, that was pretty dull. But I kept on with my commitment, and was not disappointed. When His Word enters our being, we can be sure that It will bear fruit.

“So shall My word be that goes forth from My mouth; It shall not return to Me void, But it shall accomplish what I please, And it shall prosper in the thing for which I sent it.” (Isaiah 55:11)

In reading the Word, I began to have questions. What would I do with those questions? First of all, I asked God about them. Then, used various materials such as concordances, dictionaries, commentaries, a topical Bible, and other such tools. – Many of which today can be easily accessed free on line through such sites as www.crosswalk.com. Thankfully, I also had access to good leaders in my church that I could go to who would either answer my questions or lead me in the right direction as well.

ADVENTURES IN PRAYER

Then there was the topic of prayer. How could I do that effectively? I asked God, and looked up every scripture about prayer that I could in search of my answers. Bottom line is, prayer is communication with God. Talking AND listening to Him!

Through this, I began to feel a real call to pray for others. I felt badly when I discovered how casually some would promise to pray for others, and then totally forget to do so. Therefore, when people would ask for prayer, I felt led to write down their request, and faithfully keep my promise before God to pray for them. I got a recipe box, index cards, and alphabetic dividers for the box.

In the front of that box, I had cards with scriptures on them about repentance, and would repent for anything I felt I needed to do so about, so that I could enter into prayer “with clean hands and a pure heart.” Then I would follow the directions in His Word to “enter His gates with thanksgiving and His courts with praise.“ (Psalm 100:4)

After that, I had scriptures about praying for those in authority, etc., and would begin my prayer time there. (Ref. 1 Timothy 2:2-3): “I exhort therefore, that, first of all, supplications, prayers, intercessions, and giving of thanks, be made for all men; For kings, and for all that are in authority; that we may lead a quiet and peaceable life in all godliness and honesty. For this is good and acceptable in the sight of God our Saviour.”

By the way, there are now excellent web sites with prayer guides for praying for those in authority. Two of them are:

(1) http://www.wholeperson-counseling.org/prayer/prayforauthorities.html

(2) http://www.ifapray.org/prayerguides.php

In the alphabetized section of my prayer/recipe box, I put individual cards for family, friends, and others that I promised to pray for, with their name at the top of each card (last name, then first name). On each card I would list and date each request, with a little box in front of the request so that I could “check off” and date when it was answered as well. I’d also write a little “PTL” (standing for “Praise The Lord”) to thank the Lord for each answered prayer. This was a wonderful way to see how faithfully God answers prayer all the time! It became – and remains – an exciting adventure!!!

When it comes to searching out the heart and will of God, there is no other source to go to but HIM. Everything that happens in our lives is meant to point us toward Him for our answers.

We will not receive and walk in the authority and power of God because of the Bible School we attend or the amount of anointed people that pray for and lay hands on us. It won’t come because we were born into privilege of some sort. Any worthwhile ministry or calling we achieve will come as a direct result of a heart dedicated to cultivating a personal, one-on-one, intimate relationship with Father, Son, and Holy Spirit. He is our only legitimate resource.

We do not have to be professional – just available. The apostles Peter and John are prime examples of those who pressed into the Lord and walked in power and authority because of it. The crowds that witnessed the miracles they did observed the effective results of the faithfulness of two men who were willing to ‘pay the price’ of spending time with Jesus. In Acts 4:13 it says, “Now when they saw the boldness of Peter and John, and perceived that they were uneducated and untrained men, they marveled. (For) they realized that they had been with Jesus.” (NKJV).

By observing their lives, the people around them realized that Peter and John had been with Jesus! He manifested Himself in and through them because of their diligence to spend time with Him!.

Sadly, many think that communication with the Living God is some far-fetched, unattainable thing, reserved only for the “perfect.” Gladly, it is not. – For there are none that would qualify! We ALL sin and fall short of the glory of God! (Romans 3:23)

God is no respecter of persons: Acts 10:34

God promises us that, because of His Son, we can have total access to Him and His Power.(John 15: [INSERT SCRIPTURE HERE])

ROSE OF SHARON

Years ago, I heard a story about a place where they grow many Rose of Sharon plants. The townspeople below would always know when one who entered their store had been there, for simply walking through the gardens caused the fragrance of the plants to permeate their clothing and it could be smelled on them as they walked in the door.

That’s the way it is with Jesus. When we spend time with Him, it is evident. Likewise, when we don’t!

There is no shortcut or replacement for intimate relationship with the Lord. In the process of our quest for Him, He will bestow upon us His anointing in order to complete our God ordained purpose. All that He requires of us in return is that we spend time with Him, vehemently pursuing and contending for the type of intimate relationship with Him for which we were born. We must, as it says in Jude 3, “Contend earnestly for the faith.”

Some attempt to go vicariously from meeting to meeting, conference to conference, minister to minister – seeking to have it ‘imparted’ to them, at no personal cost. Going to conferences and meetings is not a ’bad’ thing, but you don’t get the type of anointing that changes the world by going after someone else’s. We must individually go after a true, up close and personal relationship with the Lord for ourselves.

I know of one man who studied all of the famous ministers – old and new – and even memorized and practiced their sermons. It brought him into the limelight he desired, but he had no substance in his own personal relationship with the Lord to carry him, and he fell hard. Very sad, indeed. But ministry isn’t a game. There are no scripts we can follow to give us the character we need on the inside. We still need the “real thing” of intimate relationship with the Lord for ourselves so that we can stand sturdy when times are tough. Even the Apostle Paul said that he didn’t himself want to be disqualified.

(24) Do you not know that those who run in a race all run, but one receives the prize? Run in such a way that you may obtain it. (25) And everyone who competes for the prize is temperate in all things. Now they do it to obtain a perishable crown, but we for an imperishable crown. (26) Therefore I run thus: not with uncertainty. Thus I fight: not as one who beats the air. (27) But I discipline my body and bring it into subjection, lest, when I have preached to others, I myself should become disqualified. (1 Corinthians 9:24-27)

THE POWER STATION

I once had a dream where the Lord showed me a power station that looked like an old telephone switchboard. There were many spots on the board, and each either had someone’s individual name on it, or some big ministry’s name on it. Most people didn’t “plug in” to where their own name was. Instead, they piggy-backed onto the extension cords of some big name ministry. It looked something like strings of Christmas tree lights, with each one plugged into one another. Finally, there would be too many connections attached onto each one, and the weight of it began to bend the wires. Consequently, many ended up breaking off from their connection and falling to the ground, totally powerless. However, as soon as they got up and plugged themselves into the spot where their own name was, they seemingly jumped up to atomic power levels! They had more power than they ever dreamed possible!

That’s the way it is with the Lord. We can try to piggy back on someone else’s anointing if we want to. For awhile, we may even be somewhat content with the results. But that doesn’t last forever. Just like the story of the wise and foolish virgins (see Matthew 25:1-12), we must each get our own oil, “For we dare not class ourselves or compare ourselves with those who commend themselves. But they, measuring themselves by themselves, and comparing themselves among themselves, are not wise.” (see 2 Corinthians 10:12)

We should not try to be like or compare ourselves to anyone else. We have to be who and what God called us to be in order to reach those He made us to reach, and to fulfill the purpose for which we, individually, were born to do.

When David prepared to go and kill the giant, King Saul offered him the use of his armor. When David put it on, it encumbered and tripped him up. He couldn’t use it. David had to go with the ‘equipment’ (a slingshot) and the clothing (probably a simple loin cloth) that was “his” in order to kill the giant! (see1 Samuel 17:38-39). Just as David couldn’t walk in Saul’s armor to kill “his” giant, we can’t walk in anyone else’s personality, style, or anointing to kill ours.

We must be willing to trust the Lord that what He provides us with is exactly what we need, and only take upon ourselves that which He chooses to clothe us in. When we are dressed in the ‘armor’ He gives to each of us, it is exactly what we have need of in order to ‘win’ against the giants we must face.

“Put on the whole armor of God, so that you may be able to stand against the wiles of the devil.” (Ephesians 6:11).

“Therefore take up the whole armor of God, so that you may be able to withstand in the evil day, and having done all, to stand.” (see Ephesians 6:13).

THE SOURCE OF OUR POWER

Some get impatient with God for answers and go to a fortune teller, or try searching out their futures through horoscopes, or by ‘reading’ the stars in the heavens, or asking questions of an Ouija board, an 8-Ball, or via some similar sort of divination.

However, when it comes to searching out the heart and will of God, He is the only source for the truth.

Sadly, many think that communication with the Living God is some far-fetched, unattainable thing, reserved only for the “perfect.” – Gladly, it is not – for none would qualify! “We all sin and fall short of the glory of God!” (Romans 3:23)

When a family member coughs, sneezes, or even walks in another area of the house, we know who it is, because we have spent time with them, learning their ways. We know the individual sounds they make – even to the sound of their footsteps. Likewise, the Lord’s Sheep know His sounds, because they spend enough time with Him to be able to recognize and discern them.. “And when he brings out his own sheep, he goes before them; and the sheep follow him, for they know his voice.“ (John 10:4)

God promises us that, because of His Son, we can each have total access to Him. No exceptions! He is close to ALL who call upon His name! (Psalm 145:18) And He is no respecter of persons! (see Acts 10:34)

OUR ELIJAH

Jesus died and went to the right hand of the Father to obtain more than “fire insurance” for us to be kept from Hell. When He ‘left’ this earth, He sent to us His Holy Spirit to indwell and empower us to do the “greater works,“ Thus fulfilling His promise: “Most assuredly, I say to you, he who believes in Me, the works that I do he will do also; and greater works than these he will do, because I go to My Father.” (John 14:12)

In Matthew 11:14, Jesus said: “If you are willing to receive it, he is Elijah who is to come.” – He then emphasized it by saying in verse 15, “He who has ears to hear, let him hear!”

John the Baptist had already come, Jesus was the one speaking, so who was to come? The Holy Spirit! – HE is our Elijah! Not any man or woman! Jesus said: “Nevertheless I tell you the truth. It is to your advantage that I go away; for if I do not go away, the helper will not come to you; but if I depart; I will send Him to you.” (John 6:7)

“When He, the Spirit of truth, has come, He will guide you into all truth; for He will not speak on His own authority, but whatever He hears He will speak; and He will tell you things to come. He will glorify Me, for He will take of what is Mine and declare it to you. All things that the Father has are Mine. Therefore I said that He will take of Mine and declare it to you.” (John 15:13-15)

The only way we can even begin to fathom the Love of God is through the working of His Holy Spirit as John 17:26 tells us: “And I have declared to them Your name, and will declare it, that the love with which You loved Me may be in them, and I in them.“ (John 17:26)

Jesus paid the price, not only for salvation, but also that we might walk in the fullness of His Love and power

KINGDOM “AT HAND”

Jesus said, “The time is fulfilled, and the kingdom of God is at hand. Repent, and believe in the gospel.” (Mark 1:15).

The Kingdom of God is at the end of your very own arm! It is in YOUR hand! Because HE is IN You. Go ahead and “lay hands on the sick, and they will recover.” (Mark 16:18).

“God willed to make known what are the riches of the glory of this mystery among the Gentiles: which is CHRIST IN YOU, the hope of glory. (Colossians 1:27)

Jesus told us that we won’t see the promises fulfilled just by ’watching!’ – He made us to take part in it all!

Now when He was asked by the Pharisees when the kingdom of God would come, He answered them and said, “The kingdom of God does not come with observation; nor will they say, ‘See here!’ or ‘See there!’ For indeed, the kingdom of God is WITHIN YOU.” (Luke 17:20-21)

The Kingdom of God is WITHIN US. It is not far away nor unattainable. And He will not leave us out!

We are not called to be observers, but disturbers!!! – Let it be said of us also “Those who have turned the world upside down have come here too. (Acts 17:6)

PRAYER
========
Dear Lord,

Forgive us for allowing the enemy and even the times we are living in to keep us from You, Your Word, and our purpose, call, and destiny in you. Help us get back to the basics in you and go forward to fulfill that for which you made and formed us.

In Jesus’ Name,
Amen.

A Mother’s Day Message for Everyone by Joni Ames

Standard
I have many favorite passages in the Bible, but having been a single mom since my now 32 & 33 year old children were 4 & 5 years old, there is one that especially stands out to me at Mother’s Day.

First of all, a little known fact is that Jesus’ mother, Mary, probably raised him and the rest of her children as a single mother for many years. Joseph was considerably older than Mary, and the last time Joseph was mentioned is when Jesus was 12 years old and they found him at the Temple. Because of this, the fact that Jesus became a carpenter until the age of 30 indicates that He, as the oldest in His family, took on the family business to work and support Mary and his siblings. Such was the custom of the day when the father/breadwinner would pass on. Next…my favorite passage.

As we move into the book of John, chapter 2, John 2:1 says, “On the third day there was a wedding in Cana of Galilee, and the mother of Jesus was there.” It goes on to read as follows:

“(2) Now both Jesus and His disciples were invited to the wedding. (3) And when they ran out of wine, the mother of Jesus said to Him, “They have no wine.” (4) Jesus said to her, “Woman, what does your concern have to do with Me? My hour has not yet come.” (5) His mother said to the servants, “Whatever He says to you, do it.”

I so love and can picture that exchange between Jesus and His mother! It speaks volumes to me of their relationship. Basically Jesus jokingly says to His mother’s request, “So what?! You expect ME to do something about it?! I don’t think so!” – And His mother completely ignores that and tells the servants to go ahead and do whatever Jesus tells them. – And Jesus DOES it!

To me, this is a precious account of the mother/son relationship between Jesus and his mom. And along with that, a word for all of us on this Mother’s Day.

We are in precarious times in this Land. The enemy has tried to discourage many. Sometimes it seems like we are stuck with “just plain water” and we feel left out, or “too late” for the “good stuff.” Not so. Just as that wedding occurred in the third day, we are in the third day in time since we crossed over into the third millennium.

In Genesis 1, the third day speaks of a time of fruitfulness and reproduction, not of standing still:

(11) Then God said, “Let the earth bring forth grass, the herb that yields seed, and the fruit tree that yields fruit according to its kind, whose seed is in itself, on the earth”; and it was so. (12) And the earth brought forth grass, the herb that yields seed according to its kind, and the tree that yields fruit, whose seed is in itself according to its kind. And God saw that it was good. (13) So the evening and the morning were the third day.

In Exodus 19:11, the third day speaks of a time of visitation:

“And let them be ready for the third day. For on the third day the Lord will come down upon Mount Sinai in the sight of all the people.”

In Joshua 9:17, it is a time of being in the right place God has called us to:

“Then the children of Israel journeyed and came to their cities on the third day. Now their cities were Gibeon, Chephirah, Beeroth, and Kirjath Jearim.”

In Judges 20:20, it is a time of battle:

“And the children of Israel went up against the children of Benjamin on the third day, and put themselves in battle array against Gibeah as at the other times.”

In 1 Kings 3:18, it is a time of birthing:

“Then it happened, the third day after I had given birth, that this woman also gave birth. And we were together; no one was with us in the house, except the two of us in the house.”

In 1 Kings 12:12, it is a time of returning:

“So Jeroboam and all the people came to Rehoboam the third day, as the king had directed, saying, “Come back to me the third day.”

In 2 Kings 20:5, It is a time of answered prayer, healing, and meeting with the Lord:

“Return and tell Hezekiah the leader of My people, ‘Thus says the Lord, the God of David your father: “I have heard your prayer, I have seen your tears; surely I will heal you. On the third day you shall go up to the house of the Lord.

In Esther 5:1, it is a time of meeting with the King:

“Now it happened on the third day that Esther put on her royal robes and stood in the inner court of the king’s palace, across from the king’s house, while the king sat on his royal throne in the royal house, facing the entrance of the house.”

In Hosea 6:2, Matthew 16:21, 17:23, & 20:19,  The third day also speaks of resurrection life.

We are in a time of revival and restoration, and truly LIVING and thriving, not merely surviving. It is time to just DO whatever Jesus tells us, and thus see our “water” turned into wine!

So, on this Mother’s Day, as a Spiritual Mom, I speak blessing over you as we read this account between Jesus and His mother, and repeat to you what Mary said:

“Whatever He says to you, DO IT!”

And in the process, know that He will pour out the new wine into your relationship with him, the anointing of the Holy Spirit upon you, and His resurrection life to you, as well as to others THROUGH you!

=======
PRAYER
=======
Thank you, Jesus, for your promises. Forgive us for any lethargy due to the attacks of the enemy, and thank you for infusing us with your new wine – the anointing of Your Holy Spirit afresh in these times. In Jesus’ Name. Amen.

TALK TO YOURSELF! by Joni Ames

Standard
TALK TO YOURSELF!
by Joni Ames

Have you been feeling a little “down” lately? Need some encouragement?

Having been a single mom for the past almost 30 years, I’ve had plenty of times where I felt that way – with no one around (i.e., as in another human being) to be the catalyst for that!

So what do we do when we are going through rough times? Should we wallow in our self pity like Job did? He sounds so like me and others I know at times in this account in Job 10:1:

“My soul loathes my life; I will give free course to my complaint, I will speak in the bitterness of my soul.”

I’m just sayin’……..that’s pretty pityful! – Kind of like saying, “I am just going to rant and rave and wallow in the mud of my self pity, and no one is going to stop me!” haha

Sometimes “stuff” just “happens” and there is no one else around to help lift us out of the circumstances. It’s in times like those that we need to remember what David did in the face of some of the worst times in his life. – A time when all those around him were so angry at him that they threatened to stone him to death! Now that’s pretty rough! But you know what he did? David encouraged and strengthened himself in the LORD! (1 Samuel 30.6)

The world takes this concept, as if they invented it! They call it “self talk.” Even they know that, when you take authority over your thoughts and circumstances and begin to speak life over yourself, you can talk yourself into a better mood, and even a better life and lifestyle! But that isn’t some original thought. It comes straight from the Word of God!

Colossians 1:21 tells us that we are often “alienated & enemies” IN OUR MIND because we focus on the things we have done – but that Jesus came to reconcile us to Him! “And you, that were sometime alienated and enemies IN YOUR MIND by wicked works, yet now has He reconciled.”

Romans 12:2 tells us, “Do not conform to the pattern of this world, but BE transformed BY THE RENEWING OF YOUR MIND.”

One of the best ways to “talk to ourselves” and “renew our minds” is to wash ourselves with the water of the Word! Why? Because His Word is ALIVE, QUICK, and POWERFUL! – In other words, POWER-FILLED! And it will NOT return void, but WILL accomplish what it was sent out to do!

“For the word of God is living and powerful, and sharper than any two-edged sword, piercing even to the division of soul and spirit, and of joints and marrow, and is a discerner of the thoughts and intents of the heart.” (Hebrews 4:12)

“So shall My word be that goes forth from My mouth; It shall not return to Me void, But it shall accomplish what I please, And it shall prosper in the thing for which I sent it.” (Isaiah 55:11)

Hannah talked to herself. While she was talking to herself, she also talked to the Lord – and in so doing, she talked herself right out of barrenness and into having a wonderful, promised child from God! (1 Samuel 1:4-20)

What are you saying to yourself about yourself? If you are speaking evil over yourself, those are word curses! That’s right! You are literally cursing yourself! The Bible says, “As a man thinks in his heart, so is he!” (Prov. 23:7) – So – Stop that! I mean it! You have a choice as to what you believe about yourself, as well as who and what you become. It’s time for YOU to ENCOURAGE YOURSELF IN THE LORD!

The other thing is, even if others are speaking word curses over you, why would you want to fulfill that? Don’t let anyone else’s opinion of you determine your destiny! – I’d be sayin’, “See ya – wouldn’t want to be you. Love you. But there’s someone else above you!” – Meaning: THE LORD and what HE has to say!

It’s time to change the “diapers” of your mind, and get rid of the “stinkin’ thinkin’!”

So remember that verse we started out with in Romans 12:2?: “Do not conform to the pattern of this world, but BE transformed BY THE RENEWING OF YOUR MIND.”

So, let’s change things around right now. Like the old saying, “Today is the first day of the rest of your life!”

Let’s take authority over our thoughts:
“(23) Be renewed in the spirit of your mind, (24) and put on the new man which was created according to God, in true righteousness and holiness.” (Ephesians 4: 23-24)
Let’s make our thoughts be obedient to the Lord and HIS plans for our life!:
“Cast down arguments and every high thing that exalts itself against the knowledge of God, bringing every thought into captivity to the obedience of Christ,” (2 Corinthians 10:5)

“For I know the thoughts that I think toward you, says the Lord, thoughts of peace and not of evil, to give you a future and a hope.” (Jeremiah 29:11)

Proverbs 18:21 says, “Death and life are in the power of the tongue, And those who love it will eat its fruit.” – Oh wow! We need to be sure the words we are saying are good, if we are going to have to eat them!

=======
PRAYER
=======
Dear Lord,

Forgive us for bowing to and believing the enemy’s lies about ourselves. Help us to bring our thoughts and the words we speak about ourselves (and others) into captivity to the obedience of Christ. We thank you that you came to reconcile our minds, hearts, words, and lives to Yourself. Help us learn how to encourage ourselves in You, as your servant David did. We ask you to break the power of any and all word curses we – or anyone else – has spoken over us, and for your blessings and encouragement to come in their place. – And we pray as David did, “Let the words of my mouth and meditations of my heart be acceptable in your sight,” In Jesus’ name, Amen.

Also,  I suggest you be sure to ask your doctor’s advice before going on any fast to be sure you are in the physical condition to do it.

I suggest you check out the entire web site as it explains much about the fast and it’s purpose. http://daniel-fast.com/index.html

“Cry Out For Discernment” by Joni Ames

Standard
“Cry Out For Discernment”
by Joni Ames

Dear Friends,

I love the holidays and everything about them! And I thoroughly enjoy the “new hope” that comes as we enter into a new year. I love what the Word has to say about it:

“You crown the year with Your Goodness, and Your paths drip with abundance.” (Psalm 65:11)

While I’m quite an optimist, I also understand that the above statement doesn’t mean “everything” will be rosy and wonderful in the new year for “everybody.” Both good and bad things happen. But what I do understand is that things go better with the Lord on our side.

While watching the news on TV, it gave way to pondering on years past as well as the year ahead. Some of the past years were not so good for me. In my younger years I was one of the most UN-discerning people I’ve ever known! I was so gullible. And even downright dumb at times! I’m not “word cursing” myself. Just being honest! That isn’t so “cute” after awhile. And it isn’t godly. While we are to be as children in the area of faith, the Lord doesn’t desire for us to walk around in the spirit of stupid! In fact, that could be deadly in the time up ahead. His Word says:

“When I was a child, I spoke as a child, I understood as a child, I thought as a child; but when I became a man (adult), I put away childish things.” (1 Cor. 13:11)

We need to be more mature in these times than ever, and put away the childish image of being some “sweetsie” little kid.

Jesus gives us clear warning when He says, “Behold, I send you out as sheep in the midst of wolves. Therefore be wise as serpents and harmless as doves.” (Matt. 10:16)

Getting taken advantage of isn’t in God’s plan for us. He tells us we are not to be ignorant of Satan’s devices. (2 Corinthians 2:11) – But it’s up to us to seek God for the wisdom and discernment we need.

I love the book of Proverbs, because it truly is the Book of Wisdom. One day as I was reading it when I was much younger, I came across this set of verses, in which it says to “Cry out for discernment” – I took it seriously and it changed my life! Check this out!:

“(2) Incline your ear to wisdom, And apply your heart to understanding; (3) Yes, if you cry out for discernment, And lift up your voice for understanding, (4) If you seek her as silver, And search for her as for hidden treasures; (5) Then you will understand the fear of the Lord, And find the knowledge of God. (6) For the Lord gives wisdom; From His mouth come knowledge and understanding; (7) He stores up sound wisdom for the upright; He is a shield to those who walk uprightly; (8) He guards the paths of justice, And preserves the way of His saints. (9) Then you will understand righteousness and justice, Equity and every good path. (10) When wisdom enters your heart, And knowledge is pleasant to your soul, (11) Discretion will preserve you; Understanding will keep you.” (Prov. 2:2-11)

When I read that, I took it LITERALLY! I began to spend time – LOTS of time – literally laying on my floor crying out, or standing and shouting up to the Heavens: “God! Forgive me for being so stupid and gullible and for thinking that blindly trusting everyone was of You! Help me! I’m crying out to you for wisdom, discernment, and understanding!” – – “Discernment of God, come to me, in Jesus’ name!” – “Wisdom of God, come to me, in Jesus’ name!” – “Understanding of God, come to me, in Jesus’ name!”

I didn’t just do this one time, for five minutes! I spent hours, days, weeks, months, and even years, crying out for it! And I still do it!

We must be willing to “pay the price” of true, intimate relationship with the Lord. – Time! – Spending TIME with Him! When we do that, we will truly get to know Him, His voice, and His ways better than ever before!

We are truly in a time when we must “Contend earnestly for the faith!” (Jude 3) for if we do not, we are in danger of deception. Jesus warns us in Matt 24:24, “False christs and false prophets will rise and show great signs and wonders to deceive, if possible, even the elect.” – Now that is frightening that even the elect could be deceived! Dear God, please help me – us – to be kept from deception!

Do you remember when the “buzz” term went around for awhile, “More Lord?”

Well, when I heard that, it immediately reminded me of an old song, and it says something like this, “I want more of Jesus, so I’ll give Him more of me.” – And when I would hear others say, “More Lord,” I would pray, “More Lord! More of you; less of me!”

I’ve heard it said that we are all as close to God as we want to be. Well, I’m not. So I decided keep crying out and keep giving Him more of me, and I pray to God to give me the gutts, fortitude, and strength to never stop!

I love the scripture, “He must increase, but I must decrease.” (John 3:30)

There’s an old Larnelle Harris song based on that scripture called “Greater Still” and in it are these words, “I must become less, so much less, so that You become greater still. Lord empty me of anything that keeps me from what’s real.”

When I hear that song, it makes me cry, and I just pray as I sing it to Him, “Yes, Lord! Please do so with me! Always!!!!”

The Word basically warns us that dumb people enjoy and think it is funny to be stupid: “Folly is joy to him who is destitute of discernment, But a man of understanding walks uprightly.” (Prov. 15:21)

A religious spirit will try to come to you and tell you that you are judgmental, harsh, or ungodly for being discerning. But Jesus warns, “Behold, I send you out as sheep in the midst of wolves. Therefore be wise as serpents and harmless as doves.” (Matt. 10:16)

That sounds pretty serious. Nothing to ignore in that, for sure.

The truth is, we are NOT to believe everything that presents itself as spiritual. We ARE to TEST every spirit: “Beloved, do not believe every spirit, but test the spirits, whether they are of God.” (1 John 4:1)

That doesn’t mean that we need to go around telling everyone everything God shows us. In fact, that would be stupid. There are times the Lord has shown me things that I know wouldn’t be believed by anyone else if I told them. Even things He showed me about some “famous” ministers. I knew I had to just keep my mouth shut and pray. That’s what prophetic intercession is. That’s why God trusts us with it. Not so we will shout it to the rooftops, but so that we will take it to Him in prayer.

Ecclesiastes 3:8 tells us there are times and seasons for everything, “A time to love, and a time to hate; a time of war, and a time of peace.” – And right now, we are in a time of greater spiritual warfare than has ever existed.

Many are sensing as Jeremiah was in Jer. 4:19 “O my soul, my soul! I am pained in my very heart! My heart makes a noise in me; I cannot hold my peace, Because you have heard, O my soul, The sound of the trumpet, The alarm of war.”

The good news is, our God is with us in battle. Psalm 18:34 says that He even teaches our hands to war.

Of course we know, “(3) Though we walk in the flesh, we do not war according to the flesh. (4) For the weapons of our warfare are not carnal but mighty in God for pulling down strongholds.” (2 Cor 10:3-4)

And God’s promise to us is:
“(7) You will chase your enemies, and they shall fall by the sword before you. (8) Five of you shall chase a hundred, and a hundred of you shall put ten thousand to flight; your enemies shall fall by the sword before you.” (Leviticus 26:7-8)

Some of us have gone through serious betrayals. Jesus knows how that feels. Judas did it to him. But just as with that situation, what Satan meant for evil, God will turn for good! This verse is for you:

(9) Even my own familiar friend in whom I trusted, Who ate my bread, Has lifted up his heel against me. (10) But You, O Lord, be merciful to me, and raise me up, That I may repay them. (11) By this I know that You are well pleased with me, Because my enemy does not triumph over me. (12) As for me, You uphold me in my integrity, And set me before Your face forever. (13) Blessed be the Lord God of Israel From everlasting to everlasting! Amen and Amen.” (Psalms 41:9-13)

Whatever your battle, know that Jesus, Himself, is on your side as the third man in your fiery furnace. It’s time to do more than believe that He exists – but also to believe that He is “for” you!:

“He who comes to God must believe that He is, and that He is a rewarder of those who diligently seek Him.” (Heb. 11:6)

It’s time to cry out for discernment; to believe that He loves and cares enough to give that discernment; and then to walk in what He shows us.

========
PRAYER
========
(9) And this I pray, that your love may abound still more and more in knowledge and all discernment, (10) that you may approve the things that are excellent, that you may be sincere and without offense till the day of Christ, (11) being filled with the fruits of righteousness which are by Jesus Christ, to the glory and praise of God, (Phil. 1:9-11)

2011: A Supernatural Setup – by Joni Ames

2011: A Supernatural Setup
by Joni Ames

(NOTE: If this ministry has blessed you and you’d like to sow an end of year financial gift, it would be greatly appreciated. You may do so by sending it any of the ways listed at the bottom of this email)

Dear Friends,

As we look ahead towards 2011 and beyond, most realize that the times we are in are precarious. Truly, it is a time of a “supernatural setup,” when the winds of the Holy Spirit are blowing across the land, preparing the way of the Lord.

Most likely we are in the time period that Jesus spoke of in Matthew 24:8, “the beginning of sorrows.” – A time when “nation will rise against nation, and kingdom against kingdom. When there will be famines, pestilences, and earthquakes in various places.” (v. 7). It’s a time when things will be rough throughout the earth, not just our nation. How can we possibly keep our minds and hearts in proper perspective when so much is going on?

First of all, we must have a sure foundation by being in right relationship with our God. That’s why the Word says, “You will keep him in perfect peace Whose mind is stayed on You, Because he trusts in You.” (Is. 26:3)

2 Samuel 22:31 AND Psalm 18:30 both tell us, “As for God, His way is perfect; The word of the Lord is proven; He is a shield to all who trust in Him.” What a neat word-picture! HE is our shield of protection! Isn’t that awesome?! He stands in between us and the enemy, as a shield, to protect us from harm! How cool is that?!

===================
THE NUMBER 11 in 2011
===================
What does the number 2011 mean?

The number 20 stands for redemption. The number 2000 signifies “crossing into the Promised Land.”

In researching the number 11, there are a variety of perspectives. The world considers “11” to be a “magical” or “lucky” number. In researching Christian interpretations (from the Bible), the meanings are quite opposite and include: imperfection, disorganization, chaos, and the Judas (betrayal) spirit. Because Judas betrayed Jesus, those things existed, and there were 11 apostles left, rather than 12. Now, the “good” side of something like that is, we know who our true friend(s) and who the betrayer(s) are. So 11 also brings about cleansing and truth, and prepares the way for 12, which is God’s divine government.

Many have already begun to experience this with having gone through betrayals of sorts in the past year or so. The good part about it is that the end result of getting rid of the betrayer(s) is that you are left with the “Gideon’s Army.” – A group of people who are with you, for you, and able to help take the land.

=========================================
A TIME FOR “SUDDENLIES” & “REAL TIME” WORDS
=========================================
We are stepping into a time of “suddenlies” for God’s people. A “fullness of time” that will bring forth the manifestation of the fruit of obeying Him. Or (and this can be scary) the fruit of NOT obeying Him! He says in Ezekiel 12:28: “Therefore say to them, ‘Thus says the Lord God: “None of My words will be postponed any more, but the word which I speak will be done,” says the Lord God.’ “

Many who have gotten weary in well doing will soon find themselves revived and in the thick of all that God has promised and is doing in the earth today. Just as there is a “fullness of time” that must take place in the process of birthing a child, so also it is with the birthing of God’s promises. And “due season” arrives, just as promised!

Those who have continued to be disobedient to the Lord will receive fruit of a different kind. But, prayerfully, that will lead to their repentance and obedience up ahead. Who the Lord loves, He corrects! (Prov. 3:12)

Many prophetic words given in this time and season will be “real time.” – Coming forth as they are spoken. – Just as the promise that is given in Amos 9:13, the plowman will overtake the reaper.

================================================
NEED THAT “FIRST LOVE” FIRE REKINDLED IN YOUR HEART?
================================================
Some have been experiencing a sense of loneliness, hopelessness, lack of direction, and even as if they have missed out on what they were to have walked in and experienced. It’s a lie from the pit!!

“You know in all your hearts and in all your souls that not one thing has failed of all the good things which the Lord your God spoke concerning you. All have come to pass for you; not one word of them has failed.” (Joshua 23:14)

Hear the Word of the Lord and let your heart be rekindled to your first love!:

‘Hear the word of the Lord in Ezekiel 20:47: “Thus says the Lord God: “Behold, I will kindle a fire in you, and it shall devour every green tree and every dry tree in you; the blazing flame shall not be quenched, and all faces from the south to the north shall be scorched by it.”

In the midst of all the darkness, God promises that we will be lights that shine for Him. Is. 60:1 & 2 says that, although great darkness will cover the earth, HIS light and glory will rise and shine upon us! – So, “Rise and shine!!!”

======================
GETTING THE LEAVEN OUT
======================
A few years back, someone came to me asking what it means when you continue to be drawn to see 11:11 on the clock or in other places. I had no insight about it at the time. Then one night I had an experience in the Lord where I saw Jesus in the modern day church, grabbing and throwing things out of it as He did in the early church. I heard and felt the passion in His voice as He passionately said, “The Leaven! The Leaven! It’s time to get the Leaven out!”

It was a play on words, but I researched it and got the message….

Leaven is a sweetening and puffing up agent put into bread to make it more “fluffy,” “pretty,” and “tasty.” – The modern church often puts its own form of “leaven” into the Word of God (Bread of Life) within a message in order to be more “seeker friendly,” “tasty,” and popular. What happens is that, rather than being the powerful tool it is in raw form, the “leaven” that is added to make it more “palatable” makes the word of God of no effect.

“You make the word of God of no effect through your tradition which you have handed down. And many such things you do.”(Mark 7:13)

We need to get back to the true, unleavened, “Hot” Bread of Life, and we will see the power of God manifest brightly.

=========================
THE WORD OF GOD
=========================’
“The word of God is living and powerful, and sharper than any two-edged sword, piercing even to the division of soul and spirit, and of joints and marrow, and is a discerner of the thoughts and intents of the heart. (Hebrews 4:12)

“All Scripture is given by inspiration of God, and is profitable for doctrine, for reproof, for correction, for instruction in righteousness,” (2 Tim 3:16)

If we are going through a “low” period and lack in faith, that will change if we take in more of the Word. Why? Because, “Faith comes by hearing, and hearing by the Word of God.” (Romans 10:17)

Jesus, Himself, is the Word of God. Therefore, the more of the Word we get into us, the more of Jesus and His Power we have in us!:

“In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and WAS God.” (John 1:1) and then dwelt among us in the form of Jesus Christ. (John 1:14) – He IS the Word!

He was clothed with a robe dipped in blood, and His name is called The Word of God. (Rev. 19:13)

Because the Word is alive – it works in us!:
For this reason we also thank God without ceasing, because when you received the word of God which you heard from us, you welcomed it not as the word of men, but as it is in truth, the word of God, which also effectively works in you who believe. (1 Thessalonians 2:13)

“The word of God is not chained.” (2 Timothy 2:9)

When we speak the true, hot, unleavened Word, it spreads and is effective to bringing in the lost and causing those in the ministry to be obedient and faithful:

“Then the word of God spread, and the number of the disciples multiplied greatly in Jerusalem, and a great many of the priests were obedient to the faith.” (Acts 6:7)

============================
BE ESTABLISHED IN YOUR VISION
============================
“Without a vision, the people perish.” (Prov. 29:18)

With all that’s up ahead, we must have our vision firmly established so that we can say, “This too shall pass, and I’m going on towards the goal!”

The Scriptures tell us that it’s important to write down and be accountable for the vision God has gives to us:

“Write the vision and make it plain (so that) they may run who read it.” (Habakuk 2:2-4)

Those who write down their goals will achieve them. Those who do not, will not. As we are accountable for the vision the Lord has given us, we can do as the Word instructs, forgetting the past, and “Pressing on towards the mark of the prize of our high calling.” (Phillippians 3:13 & 14)

I encourage you to pull up a goal setting chart on line and begin to map out 20 to 30 years up ahead. There is something about actually writing it down and having it on paper that gives us hope and makes us accountable to it. Pressing towards a vision also causes us to have the strength we need to make it through the difficult times.

So take this time to gather your dreams, goals, bucket list, and other hopes together and write them down. Next, plug in the date that you hope to accomplish each one. Then….go for it!

======================\=========
NATURAL & UN-NATURAL PHENOMENA
===============================
Watch out for both natural and un-natural phenomena. The Bible tells us we will see them in these times.

Phenomena: extraordinary fact, occurrence, or circumstance that can be observed

Jesus warns us of these things occurring and reminds us that, if possible, even the very elect could be deceived because of them. So we must be rooted and grounded in the word and discerning.

=========================
 CRY OUT FOR DISCERNMENT
=========================
Because of the fact that there will be lying signs and wonders in the earth, it’s important for us to have and use discernment. No one “wants” to be deceived. But deception causes one to think that they are not deceived! We must do as it says in Prov. and “Cry out for discernment.”

(3) if you cry out for discernment, And lift up your voice for understanding, (4) If you seek her as silver, And search for her as for hidden treasures; (5) Then you will understand the fear of the Lord, And find the knowledge of God. (10) When wisdom enters your heart, And knowledge is pleasant to your soul, (11) Discretion will preserve you; Understanding will keep you, (12) To deliver you from the way of evil,.. (Proverbs 2:3-12)

=========================
 GUARD YOUR MIND & HEART
=========================
“Do not be conformed to this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind, that you may prove what is that good and acceptable and perfect will of God.” (Romans 12:2)

“Above all else, guard your heart, for it is the wellspring of life.” (Romans 12:2)

It’s so important to guard and renew our hearts and minds in this time and season, and not give the enemy any opening to get in and try to convince us to entertain or play with thoughts he would want to plant.

Several people I know have had some serious emotional breakdowns this year, a. It’s no joke. The enemy is like a roaring lion, seeking whom he may devour. Don’t let that be you!

Be strong in the Lord and the power of His might. Don’t entertain spirits of self pity, depression, suicide, or any such. Do as I always told my children – tell those spirits “NO and GO!”

“Casting down arguments and every high thing that exalts itself against the knowledge of God, bringing every thought into captivity to the obedience of Christ,” (2 Corinthians 10:5-6)

===================================
DON’T SECOND GUESS YOURSELF OR GOD
===================================
If you have done all of this, then don’t second guess yourself or the voice of the Lord. You are one of His Sheep and you DO know His voice! Know that He DOES love you, and has GOOD plans for you! (Jer. 29:11)Trust Him!

(5) Trust in the Lord with all your heart, And lean not on your own understanding; (6) In all your ways acknowledge Him, And He shall direct your paths. (Prov 3:5-6)

========
 PRAYER
========
In closing, I pray this prayer from the Scriptures for you:

“And this I pray, that your love may abound still more and more in knowledge and all discernment, that you may approve the things that are excellent, that you may be sincere and without offense till the day of Christ, being filled with the fruits of righteousness which are by Jesus Christ, to the glory and praise of God.” (Philippians 1:9-11)

Many Blessings,
Joni Ames

This Christmas by Joni Ames

This Christmas
A poem by Joni Ames

================================

================================
On that first Christmas Day, He came,
A babe inside the hay,
A star above, the only sign
To show the world the way

On that first Christmas, just a few
Knew Jesus Christ was born
And only some beheld His face
That first bright Christmas morn

On that first Christmas night He lay
At the mercy of the world
Rejected from the very start
As His life was unfurled

His parents had to flee with Him
And find a place to hide
Where He would not be found and killed
Though many people tried

But now He’s not a little babe
Wrapped, hidden, in the hay
He’s risen up as King of Kings
To show the world the way

He isn’t in a stable, dark,
Where no one else can see
He’s risen to the throne of God
Where He was meant to be

He doesn’t seek the world’s grace
They kneel at His Name
And everywhere, because He lives,
The world is not the same

This Christmas He is not a child
Who seeks your mercies, fair,
But He is Lord of all the Earth
His grace, with you, to share

He doesn’t run from anyone
Nor play their silly games
For even Satan has to bow
At the mention of His Name

This Christmas, take Him from the hay
And place Him on YOUR throne
For He’s King of Kings, and Lord of Lords
So crown Him as YOUR OWN

Soon He’ll break the Eastern Sky
Returning for His Bride
And all who still turn Him away
Will have no place to hide

Care enough to give the best
To family and friends
Give to them the Good News now
Of life that never ends

Show them there’s a better way
Not mapped by any man
Let them know they have a choice
To live Salvation’s Plan

Jesus Christ WAS once that child –
But let the good news ring! –
THIS Christmas, let the whole world know –
HE REIGNS AS LORD AND KING!!!
